How to Play 3 Spirit Volcanoes

3 Spirit Volcanoes is a slot you can start in ten seconds and still have something left to understand an hour later. The bet dial, the payment rule and the three counters above the reels are the whole curriculum.

Five steps to your first spin

  1. 1

    1. Set the total bet

The dial opens on 0.25, which is also the minimum, and runs up to 100. Everything the game pays is a multiplier of this number, so set it before you care about anything else.

  2. 2

    2. Press spin

Five reels, three rows, 25 fixed paylines. Nothing to activate and nothing to switch on — the lines are always all in play.

  3. 3

    3. Read the lines left to right

Matching symbols must land on a payline on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel. Each line pays its highest combination only, and wins on different lines are added together.

  4. 4

    4. Watch the masks and the chests

Masks cover symbols and fly up to the volcano of their own colour. Chests land on reels 1, 3 and 5, and three of them open the RANDOM BONUS.

  5. 5

    5. Take a bonus, or buy the entry

A volcano that has attracted a mask can fire on any spin. If you would rather not wait, the BUY BONUS button opens the same RANDOM BONUS for 98x the total bet — 24.50 when the dial reads 0.25.

The screen, the rule and the two doors

Three sections cover everything the rules screen says: where to look, how a win is paid, and how you get into a bonus round.

The layout Amigo Gaming chose for 3 Spirit Volcanoes is the oldest one there is: five reels, three rows, 25 fixed paylines, sevens and fruit. Anyone who has played a slot before can start it without reading anything. This page is for the second half of the experience: the masks, the chests and the three volcano counters that make the game more than its layout.

Everything below is read from build 1.0.1, the version the demo client reports at the foot of the paytable.

Reading the screen#

The screen keeps everything you need in three places, and the fourth opens only when you ask for it.

  • The grid. Five reels and three rows in the middle of the screen, carrying the red Lucky 7, the blue seven, a bell, and a fruit rack of watermelon, grapes, plum, orange, lemon and cherries.
  • The three volcanoes. A row above the grid: Green, Red and Purple. Each one attracts masks of its own colour and holds a different bonus round. Only one bonus runs at a time.
  • The panel. The spin button in the centre, the autoplay control directly under it, the bet dial to one side, the buy button for the feature entry, and a message bar with a lightning toggle for turbo spins at its right end.
  • The paytable rail. Open the paytable and a side rail appears with four icons: info, bet, language and a clock. The clock is your round history, and the language switch matters more than you would expect, because the client is localised into thirty languages, English among them.

The counters are the part that changes how you read a screen. Nothing on them is a control, yet the colour of the mask that has just flown off the grid tells you which of the three rounds a peak is now armed for, which is more than the bet dial tells you about anything.

How a win is paid#

Left to right from reel one, highest win per line. That sentence covers the whole payment rule, but each part of it does real work.

Left to right from reel one means a combination has to start on the leftmost reel. Three bells on reels 2, 3 and 4 pay nothing; three bells on reels 1, 2 and 3 pay. This is why the expanding WILD behaves the way it does: she lands on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only, so she is a finisher rather than a starter. You supply the first symbol, she can supply the rest.

On adjacent reels means gaps break a line. A symbol on reels 1 and 2 and then again on reel 4 is a two-symbol line, not a three-symbol one.

Highest win per line means each of the 25 lines is paid once, for its best combination. And because wins on different lines are added together, a good base-game spin is usually several small lines arriving at the same moment rather than one large one.

For scale: the best line in the game, a full row of red Lucky 7s, pays 40x the total bet, while the fruit tier pays 1x for five of a kind. That spread is why the base game is a waiting room rather than the main event, and the features page shows what the waiting is for.

Masks, chests and the way into a bonus#

There are two doors into the same room, and only one of them costs money.

The first door is the chests. CHEST symbols land on reels 1, 3 and 5 only, and three of them together open the RANDOM BONUS. You are shown the three chests and asked to pick one; the mask inside is revealed; the volcano that mask belongs to fires immediately. Green gives you 24 Free Games at the bet of the triggering spin. Red opens Pick’em, a round of 20 selectable elements. Purple starts Pin Win on a 15-cell hold-and-respin board.

The second door is the masks themselves. They land during the base game and during Free Games, each one drawn to the volcano of its own colour. Once a volcano has attracted a mask it can trigger its bonus at any moment, with no further ceremony.

Here is the part worth internalising, because it saves you from a bad habit: the number of masks collected has no effect on the trigger odds. The rules say so outright. There is nothing to farm and no counter to fill before you raise your bet.

What masks do instead is more interesting. A mask lands on top of a cell and covers the symbol in it. When it flies home, that hidden symbol is revealed, and if it happens to be the symbol your line needed, the line pays. A spin that looked finished is not finished until the masks have cleared, which is why the round history on the paytable rail is worth opening after any spin whose balance moved late.

Autoplay, turbo and round history#

Pace is the one thing on the panel you get to set, and none of it reaches the maths.

Autoplay sits under the spin button. On a high-volatility slot it earns its place: the base game is a waiting phase, and letting it run at a flat bet is both faster and less tempting than spinning by hand and chasing the dial upward after a quiet stretch.

Turbo is the lightning toggle at the right end of the message bar, mirrored in the radial settings menu. It shortens the spin animation. It does not shorten anything else: the same random number generator decides the outcome whether the reels take two seconds or half of one.

Round history hides behind the clock icon on the paytable rail. This is the most underrated control in the game. When a Pin Win board has just resolved or a Free Games run has ended, the history tells you exactly what paid and how much, which is the only reliable way to learn what a 300x wooden mask or a 30x Pick’em prize actually did to your balance. It is also the honest way to keep track of a session, and the responsible gambling page explains why that habit is worth having.

None of the three touches the odds. What they touch is how long a session lasts and how deliberate it feels, which is exactly the ground the strategy notes cover.

Your first ten minutes, in order#

Set the dial to 0.25 and leave it there. Spin twenty times by hand and watch where the chests land: reels 1, 3 and 5, every time. Open the paytable once and read the top two rows, so you know that 40x the total bet is the ceiling of the line game. Switch on autoplay for another thirty spins and let the masks accumulate on their three counters. When a volcano fires, stop and open the round history to see what the bonus paid.

That is the entire game learned, and it costs nothing on the free demo . After that, the only decisions left are the size of your bet and whether the 98x entry is worth buying instead of waiting, and those are covered on the RTP page and back on the slot hub .

The symbols, and how many you need#

The hierarchy never changes, and the useful way to learn it is not by value but by how many symbols a tier needs before it pays anything at all. On this game that is the difference between a line you will see constantly and one you will see rarely.

SymbolPays fromThreeFourFive
Lucky 7 (red)Three of a kind2x10x40x
Seven (blue)Three of a kind1x4x30x
BellThree of a kind0.6x2x10x
Watermelon, grapesThree of a kind0.4x1x5x
Plum, orange, lemon, cherriesThree of a kind0.2x0.4x1x

Every value in that table is a multiple of the total bet, so at the 0.25 default a three-symbol fruit line pays 0.05 and a five-symbol red seven line pays 10.00. Two readings are worth carrying to the reels. The first is that the step from four to five symbols is where the money is: the red seven quadruples from 10x to 40x, the blue seven multiplies by more than seven from 4x to 30x, and the bell goes from 2x to 10x. That fifth symbol is exactly what an expanding WILD supplies, which is why she matters more than her single reel position suggests.

The second is that everything below the two sevens returns less than the stake at three of a kind: 0.6x for bells, 0.4x for watermelon or grapes, 0.2x for the small fruit. Three separate three-symbol fruit lines on one spin give you 0.6x back against a full stake, so 25 fixed lines can light up and still leave the balance a little lower than it started. Set that against the 50x floor of a Pin Win wooden mask and the reason the game is labelled High volatility stops being a label.

Three symbols sit outside that table entirely, because they pay no lines of their own. The WILD substitutes. The CHEST opens the RANDOM BONUS. The masks cover a cell and then uncover it. Keeping that distinction straight is most of what “learning” this game consists of, and the features page has the same nine paying rows priced at three different bets.

Three rules that catch people out#

Masks do not stack odds. This is the big one, and it is stated in the rules rather than inferred: the number of masks a volcano has collected leaves the trigger odds alone. Watching a counter fill is not the same as improving your position.

The bonus bet is the triggering bet. Free Games, Pick’em and Pin Win are all played at the bet of the spin that opened them. Raise the dial after a trigger and it changes nothing about the round already running; the decision was made on the spin before.

The buy still randomises the round. The BUY BONUS at 98x the total bet purchases the RANDOM BONUS, not a specific feature. You pick a chest, the mask decides, and the round can be any of the three. Anyone expecting to buy Free Games specifically will be surprised once.

Beyond those three, the game behaves exactly as its layout suggests, which is the point of building a modern engine on an old chassis. The features page has every value in the bonus rounds, and the free demo lets you meet all three for nothing.
